Knock Knock Who’s There? Is a Magic Cat book by Rob Hodgson which puts a whole new spin on the knock-knock joke. It follows a cat who spends all night answering the door to an array of intrusive animals, the dialogue starting as, “Knock, Knock! Who’s there?”

A giant pair of googly eyes runs through the book and belongs to each of his strange visitors as they stare through the letterbox. This gives children a chance to guess what lays behind the door before revealing them, a great way to improve their vocabulary. Perhaps the most entertaining part of this book is the cat’s expression. As time goes on, and the animals grow louder and noisier, his expression grows more and more disgruntled, something children will pick up on.
