Once Upon a Crime, Robin Stevens

Once Upon a Crime is a collection of young adult children's stories by Robin Stevens. It follows Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong at Deepdean school for girls, making an excellent companion to the larger series. Each one of the 6 short stories may also serve as a gripping introduction to it. On each of their blood-soaked pages are mysteries, ranging from The Case of the Drowned Pearl, which takes place at a sea resort, to the more serious May Wong and the Deadly Flat, which coincides with the outbreak of WWI.

The holidays give them a break from school, but not from danger, because shortly after arriving in Hong Kong, tragedy strikes, and the girls are soon competing with private detective to solve the mystery of the MURDER of Hazel's grandfather.

A Murder Most Unladylike series takes place at an unusually dangerous girl's school in which two junior detectives must unravel dangerous mysteries. Each of the 10 volumes tells an individual story and can be read as a standalone.

Sherlock Holmes meets Harry Potter, each of the books contain short, accessible chapters as well as detailed illustrations, a fantastic stepping stone for young readers on their way to more advanced literature.
