Spring Story by Jill Barklem

Spring Story by Jill Barklem is a classic story of Brambley Hedge, a dense and tangled hedgerow that borders the field on the other side of a stream. The mice who live there have built grand houses with huge parlours. They love nothing better than feasting on cake, and pie, and jam tarts. Beautiful illustrations bring this story to life and makes it a pleasure for readers, young and old. The language level is appropriate for young readers without being patronising. Its characters feel real, despite the fantastic nature of their lives, and the plot is both endearing and compelling.
