Yayoi Kusama Covered Everything in Dots and Wasn't Sorry by Fausto Gilberti
Fausto Gilberti's Yayoi Kusama Covered Everything in Dots and Wasn't Sorry is one of a series of books which captures the unique style and imagination of different artists. Jackson Pollock, Yves Klein, Banksy, and Louise Bourgeois, are the others to be covered, each an artist whose work a child. This time, It's Yayoi Kusama, the celebrated Japanese artist, known for sculpture, installation, and dots.
The book takes the reader through the artist's childhood in Japan, her move to America where she protested the Vietnam war, and then back to Japan where she created some of her best known work, including the giant alien pumpkins. Though the book deals with some mature topics, it is done so in a simple and clear manner. Plus, the images, perfectly illustrate each point. This is a fantastic book for helping children develop a real love of art, the book being a work of art itself.
